Vajk

I love this picture! The little figure dwarfed by something HUGE! There is a giant bird inside that massive cloud of dust that is rising around it as it shoots off into the sky. If you look closely, you can see that the giant bird has gills, so can breathe underwater when necessary. The artist, Vajk, told me today that he couldn't understand why everyone liked this picture so much, so I explained to him that it could be because there is so much powerful movement in the way he has drawn the bird's take-off cloud, or the way he has shown how huge the bird is by the size of the human underneath, or maybe it's the techniques he uses: the pencil strokes, the spaces....for whatever reason, this drawing certainly has the power to fascinate the viewer. Keep up the drawing, Vajk! I think you are a great artist already, even though you are just six years old! I really mean that.
