Harry

Harry is the latest artist to join Drawing Time! He's only in Grade Prep but look at what he has produced in his very first DT session! Absolutely fantastic! These three characters have so much mystery surrounding them, the way they look at each other so suspiciously.... I didn't get to ask Harry last week about these three last week, he was so busy drawing, moving on after finishing one piece. I'll find out more from him tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to seeing what lands on his paper next! Welcome to the Boys Drawing Club, Harry!

Horus

Horus completed this wonderful piece of art many months ago, somehow it only landed on the blog though today. There is so much to look at in this picture, the detail is astounding, the colours so arresting! The multi-dimensional illusions! The genetic mutations! I'm so impressed with the art of Horus. He draws so quietly from beginning to end of Drawing Time, producing masterpieces of wild imagination and surreal scenarios. This piece really makes me think that Horus has succeeded in blurring the boundaries of daytime reality and dreamscapes. I absolutely love this piece, and shall be asking Horus for more information on the flag in the background as well, what do all those symbols mean?

WOW! What - a - MASTERPIECE! this is epic indeed! I added a few books about Ancient Egypt to the Drawing Time library this month, especially for Horus, as I knew somehow that he had a special connection to Ancient Egypt! A fascinating journey above, I am soooo impressed, I shall be writing down tomorrow what Horus has to explain about this incredibly beautiful and magical piece of art so I can share it with you ASAP!

Carlos

What an amazing drawing! Carlos worked hard last week on reproducing this picture from a Drawing Time library book, and I think it's actually much much better than the original. What a character! Check out how Carlos has tackled the foreshortening of the cowboy's arm and hand....Incredible! Carlos has drawn those difficult lines with great conviction, thus allowing us as viewers to be easily tricked into the illusion that the hand is much closer to us than the rest of the body. Nothing is too challenging for Carlos...I'm looking forward to our next collaboration, I want to join him in practising the art of foreshortening, get some tips from him!

Darc ???

This Cypholiptisyte is very authentically reproduced... I love the way the Cypholiptisyte looks so eager and friendly, while the snake appears to be more reserved in displaying such exuberance.

But is this artwork really by Darcy? I'm intirgued, as it seems as if it may belong to another DT artist who has trickily assigned the work to Darc...? I shall get back to you on this after tomorrow's Boys Drawing Time session.

Now this one to the right I definitely know is the work of Darc. He has taken on the new Letraset colours like a true master. This colouring is brilliant, not to mention the character Darc has conjured up for our delight! I love the way Darc has drawn the nose lines, and the little teeth... I'd like this picture on a T-shirt actually, I must discuss this possibility with Darc tomorrow.

Do Do

Do Do is not a new member of Drawing Time, he's just upgraded his name from President of Drawing Time to Do Do. His artwork remains as fabulous and distinctively presidential as ever though. This "W" is Very Cool. And as for the three characters below? Love 'em!

Carlos

Two new AMAZING drawings from Carlos! He makes good use of the Drawing Time library, flicking through the pages for inspiration before conjuring up his own images that are really fantastic! The above drawing is depicting the full force of the dragon's wrath as the humans trespass on dragon territory in an attempt to rescue the Princess who is kept prisoner by the dragon. Alas, the humans perish in their rescue attempt...
This giant human is armed to confront the dragon. He looks tough and that weapon looks completely ferocious, but will he survive the dragon's fire?

Sean

The creature in the above drawing "has been created from a generation spark. He goes on missions to kill aliens who try to invade Earth". This is how Sean has described what is happening in the picture...he's an amazing artist, just look at the way he drawn the snake wrapped around the pillar. An awesome scene!

Some wild new drawings from our Drawing Time artist, Sean. I absolutely love the angle of the rocky hillside in the picture above....but just what is that curious creature nestling between the rocks? And how's the mad man with a gun for an arm in the drawing on the left? He wants to take over the world, but Ti-ti is stopping him with his skilfull sword manouvres.
Sean is a master of the cartoon, and clearly has a lot of fun with his drawings, which ( I think!) is the secret to becoming a Great Artist!

Kas

I wanted to grab this picture as soon as I saw it! Drawing Time artist, Kas, told me that he didn't like it for some strange reason, but he decided to finish it off before handing over for the blog. I love all the angles in this piece, there's something very mysterious about this drawing...is it a creature or a mechanical monster? I shall have to find out more from the artist.

Kas is the real creator of this picture, he drew the kangaroo leaping through the air. I completed it by filling in the body and drawing the palm trees. I love the way Kas has captured the movement of the leaping kangaroo, it's so amazing how the tail and the legs are so well angled to show the power in the movement. Well done, Kas!

Tuff Nut and Remvsk

A terrifying cross between the Luna Park entrance and some horrific unfortunate monster!
This is a collaboration between Tuff Nut and Remvsk, two artists who excel in cartooning.
Tuff Nut has been creating fantastic cartoons in Drawing Time for well over 18 months, and has been contributing to this blog in earlier posts under a different name. He has a wild imagination, and it's a real joy to see what lands on his paper every week. Keep the drawings coming, Tuff Nut, the world needs them!
Remvsk tends to take most of his pictures away with him, which is why I have only this one to show off, but I dont blame him really. They're absolute treasures!

Vajk

I love this picture! The little figure dwarfed by something HUGE! There is a giant bird inside that massive cloud of dust that is rising around it as it shoots off into the sky. If you look closely, you can see that the giant bird has gills, so can breathe underwater when necessary. The artist, Vajk, told me today that he couldn't understand why everyone liked this picture so much, so I explained to him that it could be because there is so much powerful movement in the way he has drawn the bird's take-off cloud, or the way he has shown how huge the bird is by the size of the human underneath, or maybe it's the techniques he uses: the pencil strokes, the spaces....for whatever reason, this drawing certainly has the power to fascinate the viewer. Keep up the drawing, Vajk! I think you are a great artist already, even though you are just six years old! I really mean that.

Abir

It's so wonderful having Abir as part of Drawing Time, I love the way he draws dinosaurs. Abir knows everything there is to know about dinosaurs. I have added a dinosaur encyclopedia to the Drawing Time library at Abir's request, so look out for even more dinosaurs on this blog. Fantastic drawings, Abir!
And check out these amazing pictures of birds in flight. I really think the colours in this one above look fabulous, beautifully coloured in, Abir.
My favourite owl is the barn owl. I was telling the boys a real story about a barn owl that my friend and I helped bring back to good health after it had been hit by a truck on a country road, and this is what Abir produced at the end of the session! He's really reproduced the features of the barn owl perfectly here.

Carlos Palmer

I show this amazing picture from Carlos Palmer upside down as well as right side up cos the hair looks so good both ways. Carlos has an extraordinary talent for drawing and ideas...check out the creatures below! Keep up the superb work, Carlos...I cant wait to see what lands on your paper tomorrow at Drawing Time.

These creatures are completely unbelievably "out there"!!
Carlos didn't trace these, though you would be forgiven for thinking he did. He used the Manga Cartoon book for ideas and mixed them up with his own, and came up with this amazing picture. Fantastic, Carlos!

Revenge of trees

How cool is this snake? Such an intricate weave of colours and angles, modelled on the favourite "S" code of the Boy's drawing club ... Darcy has also used the same style in writing his name.

And below is one of my favourite pictures from Darcy: Revenge of Trees. That fella with the chainsaw should think twice about killing such a special tree... but I don't think that fella will be doing any more thinking for a long time.
Darcy is a thinker. He knows where the paper is coming from on which he draws such amazing pictures, so he never wastes an inch of paper.

Horus & Mars

This piece is a collaboration between two incredibly amazing artists: Horus and Mars! We decided that a three legged giraffe with a bad case of goitre should really probably enjoy beautiful scenery and the magic of a beautiful rainbow just as much as any other giraffe! The splendid colours must be credited to Horus, he has a real flair for painting as well as drawing.

Horus

Horus is a new name in our club, but this D.T. member has been drawing incredible pictures with us for quite some time now under his original signature. This picture was actually drawn back in January this year, I recommend that you click on it to examine the wonderful detailed action up close.A masterpiece!

Tough Nut

Almosh is now formally known as Tough Nut in the Boys Drawing Club! Tough Nut has a very strong line in his drawings, he is currently working on small pieces containing very precise detail. These are wonderful characters, Tough Nut...I have a special liking for toby toenail. What on earth inspired you to think of such a weird character? The colouring of both drawings is fantastic, great effect, Tough Nut!

Sean

Sean just recently joined up with the Boys Drawing Club, and you can see straight away that his fine gift for drawing skilfully and imaginitively has already proved to be a source of inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of his crazy drawings. Let's hope he joins the other boys in targeting the fast food chains on paper to unleash some of those rather intense sentiments.

EO

We know this artist, we've seen his amazing style of drawing in earlier posts...but I cannot tell you his original name now because now he is known as EO! What a wild picture this one is! So much going on, I could sit here and stare at it for hours, if i didnt have so many more pictures to post from this talented Boys' Drawing Club!

Vajk: Scribble Land!

And what happy little scribble people they are! I love this latest picture from Vajk.

Vajk

Here are just two of Vajk's recent sketches of whales...at the early age of six, already a master of illustrating animals in motion. A huge talent.
